Why would this be of interest to you... well I’ve been somewhat impulsive and have given in to the pestering of a friend to run the Virgin London Marathon with her in April 2015.
Another friend said to me ‘and how will you feel when Lisa crosses that finish line and you’re the only one left who’s never done a marathon?’
Yes, yes I know what I said I can hear some of you saying, I did indeed say I’d never run a marathon! Well how things change with a bit of pressure from my peers! So here I am temporarily incapacitated as I can’t exercise for 6 weeks.
It’s only been 5 days and already it feels like a lifetime. Frustration of not being able to exercise is one thing, but panic about what I’ve done is another! I’ve applied to the charity:
It is so important that these people are able to lead as independent a life as possible.
Like all things these things cost so here is some of the shopping list items that Sense support:
£5 could buy a set of musical bells to help stimulate even the tiniest amount of a deafblind child’s hearing in music therapy.
£35 could help send the siblings of a deafblind child on a Siblings weekend to gain a better understanding of what life is like for their deafblind brother or sister.
£50 Pony riding: an afternoon at Sense’s stables in Peterborough.
£150 enables a deafblind child to experience an activity that they would never dream possible such as a day Sailing.
£200 could pay for specialist training for the families of deafblind adults in communication and mobility so that they can better support their family.
So now I have two challenges for myself:
- To prove that I’m Fit at 50 and
- To raise £1500 for Sense to provide some of that shopping list.
I’ll be writing a blog to keep you all updated on my progress of both.
If you feel you’d like to donate you can do that online through Virgin Money Giving - and donations will be quickly processed and passed to Sense, or there will be a sponsorship form at the Centre.
I will also be up to other activities throughout the year. So watch this space!
Thank you in advance……Jane xx
