Richard trained for 5 years at Oxford Brookes University gaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Osteopathy. He is registered with the General Osteopathic Council and the Institute of Osteopathy.
His approach to osteopathic treatment is flexible, with a strong basis in a bio-mechanical, structural approach which can be applied as firmly or gently as dictated by your needs. He also practices cranial osteopathy. He enjoys treating all people and their different types of pain, with particular interests in sports injuries and chronic pain conditions.
He believes the body has its own self-healing and self-regulating mechanisms that sometimes need a helping hand to restore health and function. The link between the mind and body is also of great interest, including how stress and habitual thinking patterns can influence chronic pain conditions, and how interventions such as mindfulness (he has studied meditation in South East Asia) and education, can help people with these.
In his previous desk-bound existence, with a degree in Management Science, he has worked in IT and web development for various multi-national companies, design agencies and freelance ventures.
In his spare time he is a keen triathlete, cyclist and marathon runner competing in many events all over the world.
