Many ladies come to me for acupuncture when they are having terrible hot flushes during their menopause. This can be a really difficult and unpleasant time for some of them. I hear stories of them sweating so much in the morning that any make up they have put on for work has slid off by the time they arrive!
They speak of feeling overwhelmed by surges of heat so intense that they bring horrible feelings of panic with them. I hear of ladies having to get up and change the sheets in the middle of the night, because they are soaked. How awful for the ladies; and tough on the husbands too! Add to that headaches, loss of sex drive, tiredness and external temperatures of 90 degrees, and life can feel pretty miserable. Wouldn’t it be lovely to have some relief from this suffering?
I am delighted to say that over the years many ladies have had a few acupuncture treatments and described feeling so much better. Acupuncture can have a wonderful effect on general well-being, and calming too. Revitalised, positive and relaxed are words I often hear patients use to describe how they are feeling.
Acupuncture is a subtle and gentle form of treatment where needles the width of a fine hair are inserted at specific points along the body. This ancient system of medicine has stood the test of time and has been used for around 5000 years.
I would recommend any lady suffering with menopausal symptoms, especially in this heat, to give it a try.
