Jane's London Marathon Challenge Part 2

Well it’s now three weeks since I signed up for this latest challenge, and since then I’ve been off work resting my leg, I decided to put the time to good use. The first couple of days I caught up with the practice book keeping and managed to update my Continued Professional Development portfolio, both of which were somewhat uninteresting.

Then I thought…… this is an excellent time to get started on getting organised and Virgin Money Giving page,

However I feel it’s important not just to ask people to sponsor me, but as the target for ‘Sense’ is a sizeable amount, it is important to look at a number of methods in order to reach my target.

Well Christmas is soon to be forced upon us, so what better than to make the most of festive season to use up some of the produce we’ve grown in our garden and our allotment. So I’ve turned my hand to Jane’s Jam and Chutney making services, and have been producing Apple and Cranberry Chutney, Spiced Apple Chutney and Rhubarb and Ginger Jam. I didn’t realise I had the ability to be such a domestic goddess!

If anyone is interested in buying any of these as Christmas presents they’re available at the Centre, and are selling rather well, even if I say so myself. In fact this weekend I’ve had to make a second batch!

Having started down this line, I then thought I’d turn my hand to some more festive goodies, and produce a range of biscotti biscuits, Florentine biscuits and a friend of mine is making me some delicious homemade chocolates. So whilst these are not available just yet they will be very shortly, and decorated ready for Christmas, so watch this space!

Moving on from the culinary line the little charity book stall that we have at the Centre, the monies raised from that are now being put to ‘Sense’.

Lastly my other thought on methods of reaching my target was to sell my research textbooks which have been clogging up our study.

My husband was delighted with the news and even helped me source a good price from a number of on-line sites that buy textbooks and in no time at all, they were parcelled up and sent off.

Just waiting for the money to drop into my account so that I can add it to the Sense fundraising account!

As you can see I might have not been seeing patients, but I have been busy in other ways.

So I’ll bring this blog to a close, don’t forget, if you would like to help by donating either kindly use my Virgin Money Giving Page here,  or there is a sponsorship form at the Centre. Also if you have any fundraising ideas that you feel would be helpful, I'm all ears. All ideas gratefully received.

Watch this space for more updates…..
